Industrial Leak Detection UV Light and fluorescent tracers
UV, combined with fluorescent tracers, can be used in a closed, fluid or gas based system to detect cracks and leaks in for example pipes, valves and filters. Fluorescent tracers are usually highly concentrated and in combination with high intensity UV- light only minor quantities are required. Detecting leaks in water heating plants and refrigeration systems. Preparing primary heat or primary cooling mediums with a fluorescent tracers makes it easy to detect even very small leakages as the leaking spot illuminates when exposed to high intensity UV-light. The method enables the user to easily decide which part is responsible for the leakage, the supplier (primary side) or the customer (secondary side). Density control of filter systems When general filter leakage is detected in solid-fuel power plants, the Labino high intensity UV-light can be used to decide the exact location of the leakage. If the primary (contaminated) air is prepared with fluorescent pigments or fluorescent tracers, the leakage will appear as a luminous beam on the secondary (filtered) side.
UV light inspection for fluid leak detection
Fluid Leak Inspection UV-A blacklights are used in conjunction with UV fluorescent tracer additives to quickly detect fluid leaks and pinpoint their exact source..
Examples of applications include hot run tests during internal combustion engine manufacture. Most of the major petrol and diesel vehicle engine, earth moving equipment and fork lift truck manufacturers are using our UV inspection lamps..
The UV fluorescent additive is mixed with a fluid system, e.g. water, oils, fuels, coolants and refrigerants. The equipment is then operated as normal to allow the fluorescent additive to circulate throughout. Where a leak occurs the UV fluorescent tracer escapes with the fluid and remains at the site of the leak and along the flow path. Inspection under UV blacklight of all external surfaces, pipework, joints, connectors, gasket seals and coils will reveal the leak location and flow path as a bright fluorescent yellow/green glow..
This process can be used for routine quality control or trouble shooting procedures and offers vastly improved probability of fluid leak detection..
We offer a wide range of UV blacklight inspection lamps incorporating high intensity discharge (HID) bulbs, low pressure (LP) tubes and LEDs from hand lamps and torches to light guide systems and large area flood lamps for fluid leak detection processes..
Selection of UV light equipment should be optimised for a particular application and depends on the requirements for UV light irradiation area, UV light intensity, process integration and ambient light levels..
Our luyor® technical solutions combine equipment selection recommendations with health & safety training and products. This ensures maximum performance benefits, safe use and confidence of the workers..
